First, allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Rosie.  I am a primary teacher with over 30 years of experience and have recently taken early retirement.  I have an extensive background of working with children who have experienced all sorts of challenges within the mainstream setting and wanted to develop something to allow all young people to be able to access the education they deserve to live their best life as they grow up.  My youngest daughter is autistic and I am sorry to say I pushed for her to stay within mainstream long after it was clear that it wasn't going to work for her.  I wish I had sought an alternative route for her and this is the foundation for my thought processes in developing Alternate Learning Pathways (ALP).  My first thought was tutoring, either face to face or online, but upon talking to parents and young people, this was not the ideal pathway for many.  Some experienced anxiety when having to meet a different adult.  Some were not ready to learn at 2.00 on a Tuesday afternoon each week and needed the flexibility of a bespoke education programme they could access at the right time for them.  Hence ALP was born.  As each young person is individual, we have tried to create a range of experiences that will suit everybody.

At Alternate Learning Pathways, we specialise in offering resources and guidance for home education, education outside typical school environments, and engaging distance learning options.
